   Skin Procedures

A spectrum of skin rejuvenation procedures and techniques are now available to help patients achieve a more youthful, clearer, and softer skin.

Many of the skin rejuvenation procedures are non-surgical, non-invasive treatments that are used to reduce or remove fine lines and wrinkles, and damaged or discolored skin. These treatments are often combined with surgical procedures to achieve a more dramatic result. The specific procedures and the extent of treatment are among the many issues that your doctor will have to determine in consultation with you.

The following is only a small sampling of the procedures available. For a thorough evaluation of your situation, please contact us.

BOTOX®

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified toxin that blocks nerve impulses to muscles, resulting in a temporary paralysis of the muscles that cause creases, lines, and wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. It is administered via injections made directly into specific muscles, effectively paralyzing them. The results last around four to six months, after which time the effect wears off and muscle action returns. At that time, the treatment may be repeated. BOTOX Cosmetic is a non-surgical procedure.

Collagen, Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane

Facial lines and wrinkles are often the result of the wearing down of the natural collagen support layer that lies just beneath the skin. Many factors contribute to this process, including exposure to the sun, pollution, and the body’s natural aging process. Dermal fillers are used to fill out deep facial wrinkles, creases, and furrows, skin depressions, and some types of scars. It can also be used to give lips a fuller, more sensuous look. Treatments are nonsurgical. Results can last anywhere from 3 months to a year or longer.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment that chemically exfoliates the skin’s top layers to reveal the softer and healthier skin below. It is helpful for individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles, uneven skin pigmentation, acne, and in some cases, pre-cancerous skin growths. This procedure is not effective in the treatment of more severe wrinkles and is not a substitute for surgical procedures such as a facelift. Chemical peels are sometimes combined with facelift surgery.
